Atwood Glass Capabilities
With the recent acquisition of Thompson I.G., Fenton, Michigan, Atwood Mobile Products has become a leading supplier of glass products to markets including, but not limited to, commercial building, residential building, recreation vehicle and commercial vehicle industries.
The Atwood Advantage
By combining decades of experience with state-of-the-art equipment, Atwood fabricates a wide range of glass products including insulating, laminated and heat-treated glass products to meet the most demanding expectations of strength, energy efficiency and aesthetic quality. Throughout the fabricating process, Atwood also provides a wide array of options including grinding, polishing, notching, hole drilling, v-grooving, and tinting to meet each customer’s specific requirements. An experienced workforce and dedicated customer representatives also ensure that Atwood meets the demanding lead times required by glazing contractors and manufacturers alike.
Tempered Safety Glass: Added Strength and Safety
Additional strength and safety can be achieved through the utilization of specialized furnaces. Tempered glass products by Atwood can add (5) five times the strength to standard annealed glass.
Tempered glass is required to meet more stringent building codes for applications such as entrance doors, shower doors, sloped glazing and public areas such as telephone booths. Through their state-of-the-art equipment and experience, Atwood can produce very flat and distortion-free glass for use in commercial buildings, and commercial vehicles such as trucks, busses, and railroad cars.
Laminated Glass
Atwood produces laminated glass using the latest Autoclave technology. Laminated glass is manufactured by applying a PVB (polyvinyl butyral) inlayer between two lites of glass. The inlayer is applied in a clean-room environment and is offered in several colors, thicknesses, and light transmittances.
Beyond strength and safety, laminated glass also offers excellent sound absorption and ultraviolet filtration by screening up to 99% U.V. radiation which helps protect against the fading of interior objects such as artwork and furniture fabrics. By using the combination of tinted glass and vinyls, Atwood is capable of providing their customers laminated glass that offers a wide range of light transmission, energy efficiency and aesthetic possibilities.
Insulating Glass
Atwood offers a wide spectrum of IG (insulating glass) units including the latest sealing and warm-edge technology. With the combination of Argon™ gas, energy-efficient coated glass and warm-edge spacers, Atwood can meet the most stringent energy R-value ratings.
Combined with a multitude of colors, shades, and glass thicknesses, Atwood is capable of fabricating insulating glass to meet each customer’s specific requirements.
Low E (Emissivity) Glass
The advantages to using Low E glass are numerous, including energy-savings, reduced heat loss in the winter, reduced heat gain in the summer, reduced UV rays, minimized condensation and the luxury to utilize larger window spaces without resulting in excessive energy costs—all with one of the most color-neutral appearances available.
Service and Commitment
By combining experience with state-of-the-art capabilities under one roof, Atwood is capable of producing a variety of high quality glass products to meet the most demanding lead times and requirements of strength, energy-efficiency and pleasing aesthetics. Atwood’s dedication to quality is also evident in their commitment to ISO 9000 standards and certifications by the Insulating Glass Certification Council and SIGMA.
Atwood also provides several custom capabilities to help customers meet specific needs. Customer representatives are available to describe the many possibilities available, but more importantly, they are available to assist customers with choosing the optimum material for each specific job.
