Recreation Vehicle Applications

Atwood Mobile Products designs and manufactures windows and doors that reflect the needs of quality-conscience recreation vehicle customers.

From Concept through Completion
Atwood’s approach to integrated window and door systems provides original equipment manufacturers with more aesthetically pleasing design possibilities and ease of installation. From computer-aided design through full prototyping and product development, specifications testing, and manufacturing, Atwood approaches each customer’s requirements with a wealth of experience, a reputation for innovation and an unparalleled level of quality.

Concept
Product Management Teams consisting of managers, engineers, and manufacturing specialists, combine their talents and experience to work with customers on initial concepts. This can give OEMs the ability to explore various design possibilities to help meet their customer’s increasing demand for sleek, stylish recreation vehicles. Solutions can include a wide variety of complete window and doors systems with all necessary glass, mechanical hardware, locks, handles, latches, structures, screens, power or manual options, and remote keyless options all designed with ease of installation and serviceability in mind.

Prototyping
Atwood engineers, experienced with state-of-the-art computer-aided design capabilities, work closely with customers to bring ideas to realization. Detailed mechanical specifications can be developed into full scale prototypes which can be tested for form, fit, and function. This process allows for cost-efficient modifications to be made prior to production.

Completion
An experienced workforce strictly adheres to Atwood’s policy of continuous improvement by implementing numerous measures such as extensive employee training, precision tooling, in-process gauging, and in-house FMVSS testing to help to ensure both a high-level of quality and consistency in the manufacture of each window and door. Atwood also offers complete parts and service.

High-Quality Entry and Driver Doors
Atwood doors are constructed from an aluminum extruded frame with a formed aluminum panel which makes them more rigid and durable than foam core construction. Atwood also uses automotive-style door seals which are mechanically fastened to the frame, providing a stronger attachment than adhesive backed seals. Other features, such as heavy-duty hinge and latchwork, made from a non-corrosive stainless steel, prevents rust stains on the outside of the RV. The outer panel of the entry door is designed to allow for the replacement of a damaged panel without removing the door from the coach or replacing the entire door. This benefits both the OEM and customer.

Quality Inside and Out
Atwood entry screendoors are built with higher standards using heavier, more rigid construction, to prevent degradation from sunlight exposure, and a patented screendoor latch system. Atwood screendoors have also eliminated the need for the cutout and subsequent seal where the door frame striker bolt passes through. This increases the strength of Atwood’s screendoor and eliminates a common problem area with many competitive models which is a major warranty claim issue for the recreation vehicle industry. Atwood doors are designed to install flush and incorporate a larger glass area that has an automotive-style frit which help to enhance the overall appearance. Ergonomically designed inner and outer handles provide easy operation and one key compatibility. They can also be integrated with an electric lock.

Stylish, Durable Windows
Atwood offers a wide variety of standard egress and non-egress single-slide, center-slide, T-slide, louvered and stationary windows in a single and dual-pane glazing. Atwood also works closely with customers to design customized windows that integrate well with any recreation vehicle application.

Dual Pane Glass
Atwood windows incorporate Excel dual pane glass which provides many product benefits including superior insulation, minimal air and wind intrusion, and noise reduction. The insulating glass unit of the dual pane window consists of two panes of glass separated by a metal spacer. The metal spacer, with its gas-tight fused corners, provides a carrier for moisture absorbing desiccant. The two glass panes are sealed with a superior sealing system which minimizes moisture transmission into the airspace, eliminates glass fogging, reduces moisture condensation on the surface of the glass, and prevents loss of sealing caused by the everyday wear and tear on RV sidewalls.

Attractive Flush Mounting
Clamp ring installation of Atwood’s one-piece outer window frame eases assembly while presenting a neat interior and exterior appearance. With a heavy-duty extruded aluminum main frame, and a double drain slot system, Atwood’s flush mount windows move easily and seal tightly to prevent leaks and rattles. They also provide maximum open, viewing space.

Atwood windows use tempered safety glass which meet or exceed RVIA code (ANSI A119.2). Beyond safety considerations, Atwood windows feature independent sliding screens, and a user-friendly anti-theft locking mechanism.
